Food Friday: The Perfect Turkey Sandwich

If you haven’t figured it out by now – I’m a fan of Parm. It’s not going to blow your mind or anything, but it is gonna serve up consistently good, simple, Americanized-Italian classics like chicken parm, eggplant parm, ziti, milanesa, etc.

Though the underrated, underloved, underappreciated star of the menu is the Parm Turkey Sandwich. Yeah, that sounds kind of dull, but trust me it’s not.

The turkey is brined for days, cut thick, then layered onto the best, fluffiest, sesame roll. They add a few big slices of tomato, some onions, and shredded lettuce and a dab of mayo, the kicker though is a spicy sauce they put on the bottom. I’m not sure what it is exactly, but it puts the sandwich over the top.

I love chicken parm, and all that “heavy” Italian stuff. I grew up on it. But, there is something about this remarkably simple, yet ridiculously delicious turkey sandwich that does it for me. I wouldn’t change a thing about it – which puts it in my top 10 dishes.
